Scotch Broom


  • It comes from the Fabaceae family of plants.
  • Plant occurs in Central Europe.
  • Phytotherapy uses the broom herb – Spartii Herba.
  • Main active ingredients are quinolizidine alkaloids (sparteine), amines (dopamine), flavonoids (scoparozide) and essential oil.
  • Properties: sparteine causes peripheral vasoconstriction. This effect is used, inter alia, in the treatment of haemorrhoids.
