- It comes from the Fabaceae family of plants.

- Main active ingredients are quinolizidine alkaloids (sparteine), amines (dopamine), flavonoids (scoparozide) and essential oil.
- Properties: sparteine causes peripheral vasoconstriction. This effect is used, inter alia, in the treatment of haemorrhoids.
