Echinasal®

syrup, OTC drug

The syrup of Echinasal® is a herbal preparation containing complex extract from lanceolate plantain leaf, grindelia herb and rose fruit, thyme herb extract and purple echinacea herb juice. It is traditionally applied as immunity stimulating agent.

The drug efficiency is based exclusively on long period of application and experience.

Echinasal® syrup is traditionally used as a prophylactic agent during periods of decreased immunity. As an auxiliary agent – in case of mild inflammatory states of the upper airways with accompanying cough (e.g. during cold).

 

 

How to apply ECHINASAL® syrup

Children from 7 up to 12 years of age – 1 table spoon 2 times a day, children over 12 years of age and adults – 1 table spoon 3 to 4 times a day.
The preparation may be administered to children younger than 7 years of age exclusively after consultation with a physician.
Treatment period should not last longer than 10 days. If the symptoms intensify or don’t disappear after a few days, consult a physician.
In case of prophylactic use (e.g. during periods of increased occurrence of respiratory tract infections), use half of the therapeutic doses.
Children from 7 up to 12 years of age – 1 table spoon once a day, children over 12 years of age and adults – 1 table spoon 2 times a day.
Children younger than 7 years of age – exclusively after consultation with a physician.
Prophylactic use of the preparation necessitates many days of administration, however not longer than 20 days.

Consult a physician, if you think that effects of the drug are too strong or too weak.

In case of taking higher than indicated ECHINASAL ® dose
No cases of Echinasal® syrup overdose have been reported.

Before you apply the syrup of ECHINASAL®

Do not apply the syrup of Echinasal® if the following diseases occur:
tuberculosis, progressive systemic diseases, leukemias, connective tissue diseases, sclerosis multiplex and auto-immune diseases, AIDS and HIV infection, allergy to flowers of Asteraceae family, hypersensitivity to any of the drug components.

Patients with confirmed intolerance of certain sugars should consult a physician before applying the drug.
The drug contains small amounts of ethanol (less than 100 mg per dose).

Application of ECHINASAL® syrup in children
It is not recommended to administer without doctor’s consultation to children younger than 7 years of age because of lack of well controlled clinical trials of the preparation concerning administration to children and the presence of ethanol.

1 tea spoon contains about 65 mg of ethanol.

Pregnancy and breast feeding
It is necessary to consult a physician before applying the preparation.

Driving of vehicles and operation of moving mechanisms
The preparation, in the recommended dose, does not influence the ability to drive vehicles and operate moving mechanisms.

Use of other drugs
Do not use with drugs impairing liver function or immunosuppressive drugs, such as corticosteroids and cyclosporine.

Possible undesired effects

Sporadically possible occurrence of hypersensitivity reactions (rash, pruritus).
In these cases of hypersensitivity reactions, discontinue application of the drug.
In case of other undesired effects, not mentioned here, it is necessary to inform a physician.

Storage of the syrup of ECHINASAL®

Store at the temperature not exceeding 25° C, out of reach and sight of children. Protect against light.

Do not use the drug after expiry date stated on the package.

Composition

100 g of the syrup contain:

Active substances:
Extractum compositum (1: 4.4) ex : Plantaginis lanceolatae folio (3 parts),
Grindeliae herba (1 part), Rosae fructus (1 part) 5 g
[Extractant: ethanol 50% (v/v)]
Thymi herbae extractum (1:4) 3 g
[Extractant mixture: ethanol 30% (v/v),
glycerol, aqua ammonia 25%]
Echinaceae purpureae herbae succus (1:1) 2 g

Auxiliary substances :
Saccharose, purified water, currant concentrate.

Syrup contains up to 1 % of ethanol by weight.

Unit packaging contains 125 g of the syrup.
