Cardiol®

oral drops, OTC drug

The drug of Cardiol®C is a composition of tinctures from lily of the valley leaf, fruit and inflorescence of hawthorn and valerian root, fluid extract of cola nuts with addition of caffeine, traditionally applied in easy fatigue. It is also applied as a supportive agent in initial stages of cardiac insufficiency, not requiring application of other drugs and without symptoms of circulatory stasis as well as in case of cardiac muscle asthenia in older individuals.

How to apply Cardiol®C

Adults 20-40 drops, in a small glass of water, 2 to 3 times a day after meal. It is admissible to increase the single dose to 60 drops.

Youngsters over 12 years of age – 15-20 drops 2 to 3 times a day after meal.

In case of taking higher than recommended dose of Cardiol®C
Immediately see a physician.

Before you apply Cardiol®C

Remember not to apply the drug in case of hypersensitivity to its components.

Special warnings and recommended precautions
The medical product contains 64.5% (v/v) of ethanol (ethyl alcohol) on the average. Each mean dose (about 1.5 ml) contains 0.88 g of ethanol. It is not recommended to apply the product to patients with liver diseases, epilepsy and alcoholism.

Consult a physician in case of occurrence of edemas caused by cardiac insufficiency.

Application of Cardiol®C in children
Do not administer to children younger than 12 years of age.

Pregnancy and breast feeding
It is not recommended to apply the drug to women during pregnancy and breast feeding because of lack of controlled clinical trials in this group of patients.

Driving of vehicles and operation of moving mechanisms
The drug contains 64.5% (v/v) of ethanol on the average and valerian tincture and for this reason may cause impairment of the ability to driver vehicles, operate moving mechanisms and impair psychomotor aptitude (swimming, work at high elevation) as well as increase sleepiness.

It is not recommended for drivers to take the preparation for about 1 hour before journey.

Use of other drugs
Inform the doctor about all the recently applied drugs, even those sold over the counter and without prescription.

Possible undesired effects

So far, no undesired effects have been reported in case of application of the recommended dosage.

Storage of Cardiol®C

Store the drug at the temperature not exceeding 25°C.
Store out of reach and sight of children.

Do not use the drug after expiry date stated on the package.

Composition

100 g of the drops contain:

Active substances:
Crataegi cum Valerianae tinctura (1:4.0-4.5), extractant: ethanol 70% (v/v) 40.0 g
Convallariae tinctura titrata (1:4.0-4.5), extractant: ethanol 70% (v/v) 27.0 g
Colae seminis extractum (1:2), extractant: ethanol 70% (v/v) 14.0 g
Coffeinum 72.0 mg

Auxiliary substances:
Ethanol 70% (v/v) do 100.0 g

1 ml (≈ 0.910 g) of the preparation contains 0.36 g of hawthorn and valerian tincture (1:4.0-4.5), 0.25 g of lily of the valley standardized tincture (1:4.0-4.5) and 1.67 mg of caffeine.

The drug contains 60.0-69.0% (v/v) of ethanol.
